HOUSE 007 is a single-family home in Godella, Valencia. The project is located on a plot very close to the historical center, within a block of row houses whose typology is defined by two parallel walls.
However, the project’s corner position within the block allows for a typology that, instead of being confined between walls, opens to three out of its four facades.
With the intention of emphasizing the closure gesture of the block and the continuity between the streets the house faces, the construction of a robust base wrapping around the perimeter is proposed. This plinth is composed of a series of wall traces on the ground floor that are perceived as large solid blocks from the exterior.
To highlight the contrast, the wall system on the first floor is altered to look like a large piece resting on the lower wall traces. The result is a ground floor with open spaces visually connected to each other, while on the first floor, the rooms are articulated in a matrix of six cells with a more independent character.
