Craftsmanship and prefabrication

This armchair embodies one of the core values that defines us at morenomuñoz as an architecture workshop: the fusion of craftsmanship and prefabrication.

Wooden planes

This piece has been handcrafted through the assembly of interlocking wooden ribs. The wood, a biodegradable MDF laser-cut to a thickness of only 1.5mm, is exceptionally thin and fragile. However, the combination of the 29 pieces forms a very sturdy honeycomb structure with square cells.

To further reinforce the structure without adding unnecessary weight, the cells are filled with expanding foam, which tensions the wooden ribs against each other. The initial versions of OBJECT 001 are black with a matte varnish, but it can be customized in any other color.
